- bc
- bcshould be placed after the numerals to which it relates, as in 55 bc. When a range of dates is given, the second date should be put in full, as in 55–53 bc (since 55–3 bc has another meaning). In printing style, bc is normally put in small capitals. The culturally neutral bce (‘before Common Era’) is also used: see on this the comment at ad.
